✦ Our Foundation
Core Beliefs
These statements define the doctrinal foundation of Heritage Family Fellowship.
✦ The Triune God
One God in Three Persons
We believe there is one God — infinite, eternal, almighty, and perfect in holiness, truth, and love. In the unity of the Godhead there are three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-existent, co-equal, and co-eternal. One God in three Persons is the unshakeable foundation of Christian faith and life.
✦ Creation
Made by His Word, for His Glory
We believe that God created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them, out of nothing, by the word of His power, for His own glory. He made man, male and female, in His own image — rational, moral, and relational creatures, fitted for communion with their Creator. The creation was very good. We reject any account of origins that denies the direct creative act of God, the goodness of the original creation, or the special creation of humanity as distinct from and above the rest of the created order.
✦ God the Father
Infinite, Personal, and Merciful
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. He infallibly foreknows all that shall come to pass. He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men. He hears and answers prayer. He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
✦ God the Son
Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior
We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. We affirm His sinless life, His miracles, and His authoritative teaching. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His perpetual intercession for His people, and His personal, visible return to earth.
✦ God the Holy Spirit
Helper, Teacher, and Guide
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment — and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer. He is our abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide.
✦ Holy Scripture
The Inspired Word of God
We believe the Scriptures are true, authoritative, sufficient, and without error. Comprising the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, the Bible is the inspired Word of God. In its original manuscripts, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error. It is the sole infallible rule for faith and practice at Heritage Family Fellowship.
✦ Man, Sin, and Regeneration
Created, Fallen, Redeemed
We believe God created man in His own image. Man sinned, and thereby incurred physical, spiritual, and eternal death. As a consequence, all human beings are born with a sinful nature and stand under God's just condemnation. We believe that those who repent of sin and trust Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, becoming new creatures in Christ.
✦ The Church
The Body of Christ
We believe in the universal Church — a living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and all regenerate persons are members. God has charged the members of the local church with making disciples of the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Triune God, and teaching them to obey all that Christ has commanded.
✦ The Ordinances
Baptism and the Lord's Supper
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Both ordinances are to be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
✦ The Last Things
The Return of Christ
We believe God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appointed end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory. The dead will be raised. Christ will judge all people in righteousness. The righteous, in their resurrected and glorified bodies, will receive their reward and dwell forever with the Lord in the new creation.
✦ Further Affirmations and Denials
Where We Stand
The following statements address areas where faithful churches must be willing to speak clearly. Heritage Family Fellowship affirms biblical truth and rejects error on these matters.
Suffering and the Sovereignty of God
We reject the claim that suffering, sickness, or death is never the will of God for His people in this age. True faith trusts in God's sovereign will — whether that will leads to suffering or to abundance. Faith does not move mountains; it trusts the God who can.
Wealth and Material Prosperity
We reject the claim that wealth and material prosperity are always the will of God for His people. The cross, not comfort, is the mark of discipleship.
The Nature of Faith
We reject the claim that faith is an active or creative force. True faith comes to God with empty hands to be filled. It does not command God's will — it discovers, delights in, and submits to it.
Marriage and Sexual Ethics
We believe that marriage is the covenant union of one man and one woman, and that all sexual activity outside this covenant is sinful.
Biological Sex and Gender
We reject as sinful any attempt to alter or misrepresent one's biological sex. As with all sin, grace and truth are both extended to all who come to Christ in repentance.
Eldership and Headship
We believe the office of Elder/Pastor, including any functional equivalent, whatever its title, is reserved for qualified men, according to the pattern of Scripture. Sisters in Christ are encouraged to exercise their gifts in teaching women and children, mercy ministry, hospitality and service, within God's established order. This reflects not a denial of women's equal worth as image-bearers, but a glad submission to the wisdom of the church's Designer.
